Author, Journalist, and Winner of the Title “Hope Maker” 2018 - Egypt
She has published twenty books: 3 novels, 8 short story collections, and 10 biographies of cultural, artistic, and journalistic figures in Egypt and the Arab world. Nawal is renowned for her humanitarian writing style, and she has taken up the cause of children born to incarcerated mothers, making it the focus of her life, which she passionately defends.
In recognition of her humanitarian journey, she has received numerous local and international awards, including the State Award for Excellence in Literature for her entire body of work in 2007, the Mustafa and Ali Amin Award for Best Humanitarian Story in 2000, and the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate Award for Best Journalistic Interview with Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in 2001. Nawal also received international recognition for her initiative "A New Life for Imprisoned Women and Their Children" from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid with the "Hope Makers" award in 2018 in Dubai. Additionally, she received the Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz Award "Ajwad". She also received a fellowship from the international organization Ashoka for Social Innovation in 2013.
Her latest literary works, two books, were released at the Cairo International Book Fair 2024. One is a novel titled "As If It Were Love", published by the Egyptian-Lebanese publishing house, and the other is titled "Oh World, Oh My Love", containing exciting and captivating stories about journalistic and humanitarian experiences that the author has lived through over her long journey in journalism, literature, and humanitarian work.
